Is Egypt Safe to Visit? An Honest Answer

This is the question we get most, so here's a straight answer instead of a vague reassurance. Egypt's major tourist areas — Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, and the entire Red Sea coast (Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Marsa Alam) — see millions of visitors a year with an excellent safety record for tourists. Tourist sites have visible security, and tour operators like us work with licensed guides and vetted drivers as standard practice, not an upsell. Petty theft and scams (overcharging, aggressive vendors, unofficial "guides" at sites) are the realistic risk, same as any major tourist destination — not violent crime. Keep valuables secure, agree on prices before accepting a service, and book official tickets and guides (which is exactly what we handle) rather than freelancers who approach you at the gate. Solo travelers, families and women traveling alone all visit safely every week on our trips — modest dress in non-resort areas and normal city-travel awareness go a long way, same as they would in any country. The honest caveat: some border regions (parts of the Sinai away from the Sharm–Dahab–Nuweiba coastal corridor, and areas near the Libyan border) carry travel advisories from most governments and aren't places any legitimate operator, including us, would take you. That's a tiny fraction of the country and has zero overlap with any itinerary we run.
