Hike the Colored Canyon

The Colored Canyon cuts through the Sinai desert about two hours north of Sharm, formed over millennia by flash floods carving through mineral-streaked sandstone. The result is an 800-metre passage where the walls shift from deep red to ochre to almost purple depending on where the light hits.

The hike itself is straightforward — no climbing gear needed, just sturdy shoes — and takes most groups 90 minutes to two hours at an easy pace, with several natural rock arches and slot sections narrow enough to touch both walls at once.

Most operators combine it with a stop at Blue Hole's viewpoint or Nuweiba's beach for a fuller Sinai day, since the canyon itself is only part of a longer desert drive.
